The Riverside Building at The County Hall
The Riverside Building at The County Hall involved the refurbishment and redecoration of 3700 windows. This was our first Construction Management contract with Shiryama Shokusan. The individual survey had to be undertaken of each window prior to tender, in order to ascertain the extent of the works required, this was a mammoth task. After tender, each window had to be labelled with a colour coded system as a different specification was being used for different areas. Refurbishment, reglazing and redecoration of all windows took place. All 17,000 pieces of ironmongery had to be removed, polished and lacquered, then catalogued and boxed for later refixing. This project included the replacement of 50 new windows which were beyond effective repair. We then moved to the North and South Buildings of the County Hall, which involved the refurbishment of another 450 windows for the prestigious apartment development.
